2006-2007 Financial Report for St. Joseph Parish and
St. Joseph School.
September 2007
My fellow Parishioners,
I wish to thank you for your generosity
and commitment to our parish. Our parish continues to
grow. Many people have responded to my invitation, “If something does not exist here at Saint
Joseph Church, step up and let’s get it started.” People
have responded! New ministries have been added and we continue to look for more ways to invite
people share their time, talents and treasures within
our community.
During our 120th anniversary
year, we were truly blessed. As you know Bishop Brown
forgave our parish debt and provided tuition assistance
for our parochial school. These wonderful gifts have
lifted from us a heavy burden and allow us to plan for
the future.
Over 400 registered families participated in the
offertory giving program last year and we continue to
see positive results in overall giving. The purpose of
this program is to help us reflect on the blessings we
have received and consider the appropriateness of our
giving in light of God’s blessings.
Although we have seen an increase in giving overall, we
still struggle to meet our budgeted weekly amount. Our
Sunday giving has decreased significantly over the
summer months. Were it not for grants, the Pastoral
Services Appeal rebate, fund raising and gifts from
outside the parish our financial situation would be far
more serious.
At
all Masses on the weekend of September 29th and 30th, we
will ask each parish household to make a new offertory
commitment for this year to begin on October 7. In this
brochure will find our financial report for the past
fiscal year, our budget for our current fiscal year and
information on making a commitment. I invite you to review this information
as well as reflect on whether your weekly financial
gifts to the parish represent an adequate thanksgiving
for the many blessings God has given to you. This
annual process is a time for us all to consider in what
ways has God blessed us and how are we returning what we
have received.
Gratefully yours,
Fr. John
