Through the sacred anointing and the prayer of the priest, persons who are ill are commended to the Lord, to raise and save them. In the sacrament of the sick, Jesus, through the ministry of the priest, touches the sick person to heal them from sin, and sometimes from physical ailment. The Sacrament is not reserved for those at the moment of death but for those who are seriously ill, in need of the healing touch of Jesus and Spirit’s gift of peace.
